Juken Kaitaia Run/Walk - 4 August 2013 - Event Information

START AREAS

Both the 4.6km and 12.5km run/walk distances will start from the Te Ahu Centre, Cnr Mathews Ave and South Road, Kaitaia.


START TIMES

To increase safety on the course, start times will be staggered by order of category entered.

Runners (wearing RED numbers) will start at 10.00am with each subsequent category (Fast Walkers wearing GREEN numbers & Casual Walkers (wearing WHITE numbers) starting approximately 1 minute apart.

EVENT NUMBERS
Event numbers for all entries received on or before 29/7/13 will be posted out.
Numbers for entries received after 29/7/13 will be issued at the start area (Te Ahu Centre, Cnr Mathews Ave and South Road, Kaitaia) between 9.00-9.45am.
Please attach your event number high on the front of your t-shirt or singlet.


LATE ENTRIES / WITHDRAWALS
All refunds will be subject to a 10% administration fee.
No refunds will be made after 31/7/13.
Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing or by email before 31/7/13 to
sportnorth@sportnorth.co.nz or Sport Northland, PO Box 1492, Whangarei 0140.
Entries close on the 31/7/13 - No entries will be taken on the day.

LEADER BOARD
The first five men and women finishers from the 12.5km Run event will each be allocated points which will go toward their total on the Leader Board.
To be eligible for points towards the Leader Board at the Juken Kaitaia Run/Walk you will need to enter the 12.5km Run - you will be issued with a Red (background colour) bib number and must start at the 12.5km start with the runners.

SAFETY
The event is held on open roads. Treat all roads as open at all times. Expect oncoming and overtaking traffic at all times.

Please obey all traffic laws and regulations.

Where there is a lane coned for participants, you are required to remain within the cones at all times.

Footpaths and footbridges are to be used where available.

Take extreme care when approaching driveways and side roads - expect vehicles.

Take extreme care when passing other participants.

Marshals will be wearing high visibility vests and are there for your safety, follow their instructions and those of the event organisers at all times.

There will be a lead vehicle preceding the first participants and a tail marshal following the last participant. If assistance is required please stop and wait for tail vehicle, or notify a marshal.

No animals (except guide dogs) are permitted to accompany participants during the event.

All participants under the age of 15 years should be accompanied by an adult.


THE COURSE

The 12.5km event follows the Church Road loop and incorporates 5km of loose metal.

The 4.6km event follows the same course but finishes at Oturu School.


BUS FROM 4.6KM

A free bus will be provided from the 4.6km finish line to the Te Ahu Centre, cnr Mathews Ave & South Ave, Kaitaia. The bus will not leave until it has been filled or all entrants have finished.


DRINK STATIONS

There will be drink stations at approximately 4.6km and 10km and refreshments will be available at the finish.


TOILETS

Public toilets are situated in the Te Ahu Centre, Kaitaia. Toilets will be positioned on course at approximately the 4.6km and 10km mark.


ACCESSIBILITY

The section of course on Church Road loop incorporates 5km of loose metal is accessible to wheelchairs with assistance.


BABY BUGGIES/WHEELED CONVEYANCES

Due to Health and Safety planning, no wheeled conveyances (i.e. baby buggies, roller blades, skateboards or bicycles) are permitted in this event.


FIRST AID

St Johns first aid will be positioned at the finish area.

Please inform an official if you or someone else requires assistance.


MERCHANDISE
2013 ASICS Run/Walk Series t-shirts $45 and 10,000 Steps Northland pedometers $20 can be purchased with your online entry. Pre-purchased merchandise will be available for collection at the finish area.


PRIZE GIVING
Prize giving will be held at 12.30pm at the finish area (Te Ahu Centre, Cnr Mathews Ave and South Road, Kaitaia).
A large range of spot prizes will be on offer for participants.
Participants must be at prize giving and show their event number to claim their prize.
The prize draw is generated using a random computer draw programme.
As this is a fun event, no times or placings will be recorded and only the first man and woman from the 12.5km run will be acknowledged. Full Terms and Conditions can be viewed

CANCELLATION

In the unlikely event of cancellation notice will be given on Northlands More FM 91.6, posted on the home page at http://www.runwalkseries.co.nz/ and a message will be left on the phone number 09 437 9622. Where possible attempts will be made to email participants who have supplied an email address with their entry. While we will endeavour to make a decision to cancel an event as early as possible due to the nature of such events situations can occur quickly and without warning close to the start of an event.
